Understanding the ROI

Less of a Product CTO and more of Traditional CTO in that my focus is not always on software development and web presence but the entire technology ecosystem that enables the business to operate effectively, efficiently, and securely; fully understanding that ROI may be tied to revenue growth, operating expense reduction, or cost avoidance and mitigation through targeted risk management efforts.

Making it Easy

While some CTO focus on what is the most technically effective and often complex solution to meet a business need, I focus on designing and building simple solutions that are easy for the end-user to understand and operate. Making it easy will make it successful as complex and confusing technology ends up being circumvented by customers and internal users.

Listen to the Customer

Gathering and interpreting customer needs and wants is essential to developing a viable product and service.  Leverage the 20+ years of technology leadership experience to create solutions that your customers want.

Understanding the Business

Driving blindly towards customer requests is not sustainable for your business, and you need a technology leader with strong business acumen to understand the ROI and placement of products and services into your business’ ecosystem.

Defining What “Good” Looks Like

“Good” is relative and highly dependent on the industry that you operate. Evaluate what your cohort deems to be poor, good, and great. Do you want to be fit-for-purpose or best-in-class? This decision can represent a technology budget of 3.5% or 5% of revenue respectively.

Developing Realistic Plans

I have seen what has worked and what will fail when determining project milestones and deliverables. Use my past experience and knowledge to properly scope and execute initiatives that meet business needs and excite the end-user.

Guiding Implementation and Operationalization

Has your business critical initiative swayed off course and require a course correction? Engage a turnaround technology leader that can assess the current trajectory and guide your organization through the rough terrain to delivery successful outcomes. Keep in mind, “Technology without a purpose is just software and hardware; people and process are what make it a viable service.”

Ensuring Successful Outcomes Through Inspection

Your business may have the required technical expertise, but it may lack the technical leadership to reach its goals.  Reach out if you need an Interim CIO, CISO, CTO, or business savvy technology professional to review and drive complex and high-priority initiatives.
